Figuring Out FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and How to Overcome It
Fear of Missing Out, or FOMO, is a new mental health syndrome plaguing a growing number of people. Those afflicted with FOMO fear that they are missing out on what other people are doing; specifically, they fear that others are having exciting experiences that they’re not. FOMO is especially strong for those who are addicted to social media because they’re constantly aware of what others are doing. In most cases, people with FOMO respond by either overcommitting and failing to fulfill many of their commitments or choosing to avoid agreements and commitments as much as possible. In this episode of Figure Out Your Life Podcast, I discuss the concept of FOMO and the dangers of being afflicted with this mental health condition, and I share 6 ways to overcome Fear of Missing Out.

In this episode of Figure Out Your Life podcast, I discuss the importance of saying “No” to relieve holiday stress and share 7 strategies to make saying “No” feel less uncomfortable.

Figuring Out Living at Home as an Adult
More than one in five millennial Americans, ages 23 to 37, are living at home with their parents. Experts say the unaffordable housing market, rising student loan debt, and stagnating wages, rather than a failure to adult (i.e., not being able to hold jobs or launch careers), are pushing more and more millennials to move back home. In this episode of Figure Out Your Life podcast, I discuss the growing trend of millennials living at home, including my own experience, and share simple tips for making the most of living with your parents as an adult.

Figuring Out Cultural Appropriation and Halloween Costumes
Halloween is here. And, if you are not sure what to wear, I created a special episode to help you celebrate the holiday without being culturally offensive (or straight-up racist). In this bonus episode of Figure Out Your Life podcast, I discuss cultural appropriation and Halloween, and explain why dressing up as “another culture” is racist and an act of privilege that everyone, including people of color, must recognize and consciously avoid perpetuating. I also share my list of “commonly-worn, yet culturally offensive” Halloween costumes to avoid and a checklist to help determine whether or not your costume is racist.

Figuring Out Cancel Culture (and Why It Doesn't Really Work)
Why “cancel culture” work until it gotta work? Cancel culture is a modern internet phenomenon where a public figure is ejected from influence or fame due to their problematic actions. In the last two years, “cancellation” has worked as intended, in the cases of alleged predators R. Kelly and Harvey Weinstein. But, why hasn’t it worked in the case of someone like MAGA hat-wearing Kanye West, who infamously said slavery was a choice (and recently said black people are “culture-less”)? He was “canceled” and now has the #1 album on iTunes. In this episode of Figure Out Your Life podcast, I discuss cancel culture, and explore why it doesn’t really work for everyone and should be canceled.
